Typhoon Haiyan: The Story As Told On Social Media

By November 9, 2013February 25th, 2021

Living in South Florida, I get pretty used to dodging hurricanes. But I’ve never seen anything like Typhoon Haiyan. Actually no one has. With sustained winds of 195 miles per hour and gusts to 235 miles per hour, we’re talking a catastrophic storm that few could survive. A direct hit from a storm of that nature would be devastating.

While we are comfortable here in the United States watching football today, there are thousands of people in the Philippines who have been caught in the cross hairs of the worst storm in history!

Please keep the people of the Philippines in your prayers today and if you’re able to help financially, please text “RELIEF” to 864233 to donate $10 to UNICEF. They are really going to need our help.

Just know that half a world away, UNICEF and the Red Cross estimate that as many as 1.7 million children could be affected by devastating impact of Super Typhoon Haiyan.

What a tragic storm. Please help.
